Billericay Town 0-4 Cambridge United
Billericay Town Women opened their 26/27 campaign with a tough afternoon, falling 0–4 to Cambridge United Women despite a committed defensive effort and several key moments that could have changed the flow of the match.
Billericay began positively and produced the first major chance of the game in the 6th minute. A dangerous attack looked certain to give the Blues the opener, only for a Cambridge defender to clear off the line at the last moment. It was an early sign that Billericay could trouble the visitors.
Cambridge applied pressure as the half progressed, but Billericay’s goalkeepers stood firm. At 11 minutes, Learna Daniels denied Cambridge with a sharp stop. Just after the half hour mark, Emily Mackler produced an outstanding save, pushing a powerful effort away to keep the deficit at one. Despite the resistance, Cambridge found the breakthrough on 15 minutes and doubled their lead shortly before the interval. Billericay went into half‑time trailing 0–2 but still very much competing.
The Blues continued to battle after the restart. Mackler remained central to the defensive effort, making another important save at 51 minutes to keep Billericay in the contest. The team reshaped in the 82nd minute, with Debenham replacing Morgan, adding fresh legs for the closing stages.
As Billericay pushed to get back into the match, Cambridge capitalised on space late on, adding goals on the 86th and 90th minutes. The final scoreline of 0–4 did not fully reflect the periods where Billericay threatened or defended strongly.
Billericay showed moments of real promise — an early chance that nearly changed the tone of the match, multiple high‑quality saves, and sustained effort throughout. The performance contained foundations to build on as the season continues.
